Posted - May 16 2010 : 10:21:13 PM Don't you just love gardening?! I love spending my day on my hands and knees in the dirt. I spent most of the day weeding a hoeing our flower beds out front and weeding our herb garden. There is something about being in the garden that makes me feel closer to God. Am I the only one who feels this way?!? Just thought I would share. Hugs, Channah

Posted - May 21 2010 : 04:45:06 AM There sure is something to be said about feeling the dirt between your fingers, not to mention the smell. I too clear my mind by working in the garden.

Posted - May 21 2010 : 04:19:01 AM Well i love gardening but i can no longer get on my hands and knees :(. All of my garden space is in raised beds or containers so i can do all my gardening from a chair. My kids love to help plant but that is about it.

Posted - May 18 2010 : 9:29:38 PM There's nothing like spending a day outside....I love digging in the dirt, altho have to say if I got down on my knees, someone'd have to call 911 to get me up.....but I enjoy it all the same. My grandmother had a yard like a park, my mom always said I got my love for gardening from her, and my dad. I never helped in the garden much, but when I bought my first home is when I realized how much I loved it. Such a de-stress, a time for reflecting, etc. Channah, I've heard about a 3 sister garden, but don't know what it is, could you explain??

Posted - May 17 2010 : 07:22:48 AM I agree Channah! I have spent so many hours on my garden and in my yard, just singing praises and talking to God. I believe with all my heart that my prayers for my garden are what has kept my garden growing so beautifully. I don't know if you remember ever seeing my posts about the fear of all the critters I've got here, including nearly domesticated deer who think this is their yard. Well, my plants in my garden are all nearing about 6 inches or more now and no nibbles or anything on them. I can't believe it! It is so good to be out there in God's creation. I DO feel close to Him when I am gardening.
And OMGoodness Sherrye...I *LOVE* that movie! One of my all time favorites. One that I can watch over and over and never tire of. In fact, I think I'm a little overdue for some "Overboard." I need to rent that one tonight while hubby is at rehearsal! That one and her daughter Kate's movie, "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days." Love that one too. Those girls can do a romantic comedy up good!

Posted - May 17 2010 : 05:00:26 AM Yep, I love it. After doing nothing all winter it just feels right to get outside and get nasty again! But I think I broke my right pinky toe last night. I should know better than to go barefoot around here anymore. So I am limping now. Probably won't be able to get my clogs on.
Have fun in your gardens, girls. Channah, have ya'll planted your veggies yet?

Posted - May 17 2010 : 04:18:44 AM I know exactly what you mean Channah! Even though, I didn't actually "work" in my dad's or Nana's gardens when I was young, I did enough to know how much I love it now. There's something wonderful about being in the dirt, getting dirty, making it look beautiful and marveling at the way God made seeds, everything a plant needs packaged into one tiny little seed!!! On Saturday I was blessed to have my youngest grand daughter Gracie to help me plant the potatoes and weed. How sweet it was to be sung to the entire time we were out there! :0 :) So glad you love doing this now Channah! So many teens have never had their hands in a garden before. :(
