Posted - May 04 2010 : 09:13:18 AM I went out to do some thinning of seedlings in my square foot garden yesterday and realized that there is a square sprouting that I have no clue what I put in it. There are little sprouts coming up all over the place from seeds that have blown into the garden, but this square has 16 perfect little seedlings in perfect squares coming up. They don't look like my carrots or beets, which are the only thing I have planted in 16s. I was thinking maybe I had already planted my turnips when I thought I had not, but I looked at some pictures online of turnip sprouts and they don't look like what I saw. Oiy! I planted a square of turnips and am hoping they'll pop up in a few days so I can see if they do look the same. I don't know what else I would have planed 16 to a square LOL! I can't believe I didn't write stuff down that day that I planted. I specifically remember planting spinach and beets and I know exactly where I planted them. I guess I'm realizing that my brain is getting older and more and more forgetful, so I need to write things down right away.

Posted - May 04 2010 : 12:11:25 PM I planted some of my garden according to my well sketched, detailed, meticulous garden plan. Then my DD of only 18 months turned it upside down on my table and the rest was planted in the wrong rows! It's all mixed up out there! Then the cabbage plants were ready to plant. So I sent my DH up to get them. I had planned on 3 dozen in the row. Somehow I wound up with 6 dozen! My DH laughed all day about my desperate phone calling to find homes for 3 dozen plants! Mommy Brain Strikes Agian! And Agian! And Agian! LOL!

Posted - May 04 2010 : 11:23:16 AM Oh no! I have a row of I'm not sure what just right yet. I will when they pop up some more. I usually mark everything too. But not this one. I'll know soon enough. I hope you know what your mystery plants are soon.

Posted - May 04 2010 : 09:56:01 AM There are just too many "urgent" situations to remember them all! LOL I can only allot brain space to the ones that involve ER visits. :-)

Posted - May 04 2010 : 09:43:12 AM Good idea....I blame the children LOL! It very well could have been one of those moments where I was in the middle of planting and was being called into the house for some "urgent" situation, but I can't even remember that :)

Posted - May 04 2010 : 09:30:39 AM Mommy brain! It's happened to me, too (not exactly the same, but along the same lines)! It'll be a wonderful surprise, whatever you planted there.
In our house, whenever something unexplainable happens, DH says, "I blame the children." :-)
