I am still looking for applemint. Does anyone have it??
Have you tried Thai Basil?

Posted - May 09 2010 : 3:42:54 PM OMG! guess what! my elderly neighbor lady found me a small Pineapple Sage plant...Wahoooo! I am going to keep it in a pot on the deck for this year and then maybe next summer plant it in a safe location where it might thrive...or maybe I will just put it in a really large patio deck pot....& invite the lil Hummers to the deck for a treat! You have no idea how happy I am to have this plant...

Posted - May 06 2010 : 07:03:16 AM I am going to try to find one today. I loved the picture with the flowers. I have another sage plant and it is now flowering. My question is what do you do with the flowers? I always just thought to use the leaves and not the flowers but, this is a sage that I put in last yr and it wintered over and is now flowering. delicia |

Posted - May 05 2010 : 8:47:50 PM Pinepple sage is so special to us northeners (Minnesota). It smells great as is good in tea and it doesn't grow so large up here. But I like it also for its pretty flowers. Bonnie

Posted - May 05 2010 : 6:43:21 PM Hey Amy, when I use to live in Moorpark, CA., I had the most lovely Pineapple sage plant...I loved useing it for tea but most of all I loved it because it attracted the humming birds...which were fun to watch getting their sweet treats from the tubular red flowers...I so miss my garden in Moorpark. I kept mine trimmed and I would slightly thin it so the plant would not get out of control or to woody. I have not tried growing it up here, not sure if it would survive the Winters. I dried the leaves for tea and if I wanted a swet cream cheese spread I would dice up bits of the leaves & blend into my cream cheese. Enjoy your plant... P.S. I luv Lompoc, Santa Maria and of course Solvange....

Posted - May 01 2010 : 05:53:40 AM I bought Pineapple Sage yesterday. I love the fragrance! It often doesn't survive the Texas summer, but is lovely while it lasts :) .
Amy, I have Applemint. If I can get a cutting to root before the heat sets in, I'll be glad to send it to you. It makes delicious tea! :)

Posted - Apr 30 2010 : 11:47:21 AM Pineapple Sage is a salvia and as good as it's name. the kids used to call it the bubble Gum plant because it smelled like that to them. There are so many different sages (over 100 species)---some smell good--some don't. The Pineapple Sage has beautiful red flowers that Hummingbirds love. I imagine the other fruity sages do too. MB

Posted - Apr 30 2010 : 10:53:21 AM I have a Pineapple Sage that has been growing for about 4 years now. Every winter, I cut it back and it grows like crazy again the next year. I grow it mostly for the flowers for the bees. Gotta have those bees!! :)

Posted - Apr 29 2010 : 7:52:50 PM I planted one last year and it grew HUGE!!!!!!! I had to cut it down because i hadn't planted it in a place where I wanted a huge plant. I didn't really like the flavor of the leaves but when it bloomed it was absoutely beautiful.
