I put in 3 raised beds this year. I was wondering if there were certain things that should be planted together? I was thinking about tomatoes and peppers in one, onoins, lettuce and radishes in the other. The third just herbs. I have never done raised beds so I am not sure what will be the best use of space.

I just plant the stuff that spreads by itself, the stuff that grows tall i will plant together, since raised beds have such limited space anyway!~

There is a book called Carrots love Tomatoes by Louise Riotte that has a lot of information on companion planting if you want to learn more, there are definitely things that can complement each other in the garden.
And, as Jonni said, crop rotation is important too

I have 3 raised beds, also, Rea. I rotate crops since I plant similar things each year...in the first bed (right now) are my early Spring crops. 2 sections of English peas and fencing, Mescalun lettuce and salad spinach, white onions, vidalia onions, and beets. In the middle raised bed, I've planted potatoes. In the third will be a combination of green beans and probably some summer squash. In the autumn, I will replant cool weather.

I hope that if I scale down with smaller space I will take better care of it. The weeds get out of control with the amount of hours that I work. I have very heavy clay soil and with the raised beds I am able to better contol the soil content.

I have a total of 7 large raised beds this year after having 5 last year. Our soil is poor--lots of sand. I did learn not to plant zucchini and crook neck squash along with beans, peas, and eggplant--Waaaaay to crowded! So this year the squash and the zucchini will be planted on the east side of the house directly in the soil where they will have room to stretch.

Good luck with the beds--I wouldn't garden any other way!
