Is it time to plant tomatoes and other plants in Maryland? Thank you!

I am in Nebraska and am waiting until the second week in May. I have gotten too excited and planted too early before so trying to hold off for a while this year!!

Thanks so much for this information. It seems to me now that we are supposed to wait until after Mother's Day. I'm not very experienced in gardening but I want to this year. I saw the post about planting stuff in the topsoil bags and I'm really excited to try that....Linda my family lives down near Big Stone Gap! I love Virginia. I spent half of my life there with my grandparents.. And Angela I think I would like to get myself a Farmer's Almanac. Our weather here can be pretty screwy too, especially here lately.....
I'll be a true Farmgirl yet!! LOL

Our last frost date in SW Virginia is May 10th, so if I were you I would wait a little longer! I am eager to start planting too but experience tells me, wait!

If I'm reading the farmers almanac correctly you can plant them outside starting this weekend. I don't know how predictable your weather is there but my DH and I give warm season crops 2 extra weeks inside based off our dates. The weather in indiana can be pretty screwy. We've had snow in may before and our last frost date is supposed to be april 15th!
