Last year I had TONS of basil. I mean, a BUMPER CROP-which I started in the greenhouse, in styrofoam trays. (We reuse these)

This year, I've grown them in jiffy pots, once again, in the greenhouse-and I don't have ONE SINGLE SPROUT of basil! Can someone tell me what's going wrong? I LOVE my basil! :(

Starbucks and sushi to green fried tomatoes and corn pudding-I wouldn't change it for the world.

Hrm. We bought brand new trays this year, but, I have my basil in the jiffy pots. Maybe I'll take them out of the water to dry for a little while. :( My basil was so great last year!

I think they call it damping or dampening off. The soil is too moist & it rots at the base. I have had that happen too. I could also be reusing tray or pots without cleaning them?

My basil all sprouted and then did nothing for weeks - just two timy leaves and then it all randomly died one day! Not sure why. Looks like I'll be buying some starts at the store.

My basil is very slow coming this year.

I bought a boxwood basil. It seems to be doing ok. We'll see.
