Posted - Mar 15 2010 : 8:28:06 PM Teresa mentioned putting compost around the carrots. My hubby wants to know do we mix the compost with the dirt, or do we just put compost around where we planted the carrots. LOL. Marly

Posted - Mar 16 2010 : 08:48:48 AM I mix 50/50 and also add some just compost around/on top of my plants, then I have a layer of straw on top of that, helps keep the soil moist and you don't have to water as much, plus helps keep the weeds at bay.

Posted - Mar 15 2010 : 9:11:42 PM I would mix it 50/50 with dirt to make sure there is enough substance around the carrots. The compost with provide both nutrients and lighten the soil, and the soil with hold the carrots in place while they get established.
