I have searched the forums and have not found anything about this on here. I just put in a worm tower yesterday, so I was looking for ideas. A friend recommended www.wormbincomposting.com
I just wondered if anyone else out there was interested in the little guys that help us keep the soil rich and loose and are kind of fun to play with too.

Here is how it all works:
Give your fruit/vegetable scraps to your worms
The worms turn it into castings. Use the castings as a natural fertilizer on our garden and the cycle starts over again.
Castings are often compared to expensive slow release fertilizers. Because they stay alive in the soil, they release nurtients long term. They contain beneficial nutrients but also contain live organisms that will not only nourish your plants but also serve as a pesticide and antifungal.
So how can you use it? Several options:
•As a top dressing : just scratch or hand mix it into the surface of the ground around your plant and water it in.
•As part of a starter mix for seedlings or new plants.
•As Worm Compost Tea to use as a root drench or folier spray. This is by far the most recommended method among gardeners for its fast results.
How can you NOT use it.... you can't go wrong unless you simply don't use it.

What is Worm Composting? Vermicomposting or vermiculture is the use of worms to compost waste. Usually fruit, veggie and paper scraps. This can be done in a bin, pile or window.
The finished product called castings (worm poop) can then be used as organic fertilizer for gardens and plants.
