What's the one vegetable you are really looking forward to planting this summer? As for me it's spinach. I hope to have a large enough patch to freeze a bunch. the hard part will be keeping the grasshoppers out of it.

Tomatoes and I have to say pumpkins :)

Laurie,

I know too well about the grasshoppers. For the last 2 years we have used Nolo Bait and it has helped alot. It's natural too!

I need much more tomatoes this year, all my cans were gone by late november. Of course, they're a fruit, so I'd have to say peas- love em

Tomatoes! Big ones, little ones, all different colors. Last year we had a blight in the northeast that wiped out a lot of tomoto plants (including mine). And of course basil for pesto! My favorite cheap dinner: pesto pasta with sliced tomatoes.

I would love to be able to grow carrots. I have tried every year and still no
carrots. I did peas last year loved them.

Zucchini!

Seems you can never get enough, and always get too much when you decide to go on vacation. I may try to stagger plantings so they'll last longer.

I seriously need to invest in a nice deep fat fryer. Fried zucchini and my own fried okra --NOT from Wal Mart's deli case!

Zucchini! I'm moving it to the front yard this year. I've had such bad luck with it over the years in the back garden.

I'm tearing out flower beds and moving in veggies!

Does Cilantro count as a veggie??? If not, it would be tomatoes, I think. I am sooo craving a fried green tomato!

SugarSnap peas are the first thing I want to grow and taste! :)

This year definitely more spinach and more basil...

I experimented with eggplant last year and they took forever---just barely harvested them before a big frost. Our summers up here in the great north woods are short, but sweet!

This time of year, I'm ready to plant about anything. We have at least a foot of snow on the garden right now. The first thing that gets planted "out" is the potatoes, followed by onions (mid March). I always start an early (late March) crop of lettuce, radishes, spinach, chard, and green onions. Tomorrow is the big day. First seeds starting here in the house. Parsley!! Middle of Feb, will start peppers, then a few tomatoes. Main crop of tomatoes will be started later.

Searching the seed catalogs. I'm especially watching to catalogs to make sure they say they are not selling Frankenseeds. That probably should be another topic.

grape tomatoes and snap peas! And spinach. Last year I dried tons of spinach and have been adding it to soups, eggs, casseroles, almost every thing with good results

Forget buns of steel, I'd rather have buns of cinnamon!

Always, tomatoes. Love the fragrance of the leaves, love to see the rapid growth, love to walk among them and brush against them to release the fragrance, love to watch the tiny fruits swell, love to anticipate the first tart, juicy taste. What's not to love?

That's a tough one! I think this year I would have to say zucchini, as last year I made zucchini relish for the very first time, and everyone loves it! I had just a small garden last year, so didn't make too much..... this year watch out! Oh, and of course sausage stuffed zukes- yum!

Zucchini - it is my favorite every year because of the zucchini recipes I inherited from my grandma.
I have never done well with tomatoes - garden area is too chilly, but we are trying something new with hoop houses this year so hopefully.....
