Hi...

Lime Pickles? They sound really interesting! If you cared to share that recipe.. I would bet we would all be interested!

Take care,

How far along are your starts? I noticed that my tomato starts were white and fuzzy when they first started bursting out of their seeds. Is it possible that this is normal? Because mine are fine now and I didn't change anything.

sqrl,
I have had some luck with spraying a mix of 1 part apple cider vinigar and 3 parts water on mold and fungus. I lost a bunch of cukes to it last year, but after I started spraying everyday it did get better (I lost the cukes but saved the pumpkins). This year I am going to spray from the start once or twice a week. I had to beg cukes for my husbands favorite lime pickles. I really think it would end in divorce if I didn't make them. He likes them so much he will even happily help cut, rinse and boil them. Ah that sweet crunch.

you know what I did once and it worked...I made chamomile tea and after it cooled I put it in a spray bottle and spray the starts everydayish and no more mold. Chamomile is antibacterial.

I agree with Kay; and if you can gently scrape off the mold on top and dispose of it, do so.

And don't beat yourself up over it; failures are part of how we learn to have successes.

Leah -- it sounds like mold. You've probably got the soil too wet. If you have a cover on them take it off and let it dry out some.
