Posted - Mar 16 2006 : 07:24:11 AMi just realized that i have an extremely overgrown grape vine in my yard that i would like bring back under control so that i can have my own grapes for jelly or whatever these grapes will happen to be good for. it's like a giant... octopus twisting back around on itself and anything else it can grab a hold of. it actually looks like a bush right now instead of a vine.

Start with the outer most vines and work your way back to where you want it to begin vineing this summer. Cutting just above the bud where the vine will grow.Check your library for a good book on pruning and growing grapes. There are lots of illustrated pruning guides available. Eileen
