Posted - Sep 24 2009 : 08:54:32 AM I am SOOOOO excited!! I have pumpkins!! Perfectly shaped, beautiful, bright orange pumpkins. And I have ALOT of them. About 20 to be exact. My pepper plants are producing in overtime so I have jalapeno, bell and habanero peppers out my ears. AND - I couldn't resist any longer and I dug up some of my sweet potatoes last night. I had one that was almost as big as my head!!! It was the greatest feeling. I was actually laughing and smiling while rooting around in the dirt "looking" for the potatoes.
Last night walking up from the garden I had a 5 gallon bucket full of sweet potatoes, a bushel basket full of assorted peppers and two huge pumpkins. I could barely carry it all to the house!!
Gardening and growing food for our family has got to be one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. It's absolutely fantastic.

Posted - Sep 28 2009 : 04:01:28 AM Awesome Sarah, Nothing better than food from your own garden/farm. Even better, when it is organic, and no threats in eating it. Harvest,Fall love it!

Posted - Sep 24 2009 : 10:30:04 AM Right, I've got all the potatoes I dug up last night on a sheet on the floor. I wanted to put them outside on the deck but it has been raining so much, I'm afraid they would just rot.
I can't wait for Thanksgiving though! I'm going to take sweet potatoes from garden and pumkin pies from the pumpkins I grew!

Posted - Sep 24 2009 : 09:23:41 AM How exciting Sarah! I was wondering if you harvested your Sweet Potatoes yet :) We had our first frost the other night so I harvested mine. I'm happy to report that they do grow out here, on the downside I waited too long to plant so they are on the small side. Still happy though. It was fun and exciting harvesting them and getting dirty :)
What a bountiful Harvest you had, I'm excited for you
