When do you know it's time to harvest your acorn & buttercup squash? I have planted some and have no idea when to start harvesting.

actually one of my little ones got disconnected from it's vine so it harvested itself..hope it is "good"

I think when the buttercup are ripe, they have a little spot of orange on them, where they sit on the ground.
I have not grown them for a couple years, but I do have them this year.

I usually wait to first frost. Make sure you leave an inch on the stem when you cut them.
