I am so excited! We finally had ripe tomatos in the garden last night to put in our salad! Oh that amazing true red color and the FLAVOR!! It was wonderful. And now all our plants are loaded with more to come. Yippee!

Probably the hens. They LOVE tomataoes! I think next year I will have to figure out a way to fence in my closer garden with high chicken wire. It is fenced in with chain link but the jump right over that and I really don't want to clip wings.

BINGO! I had a couple of tomatos closer to the ground that were eatten on the tomato plants but no signs of bugs... I was trying to figure it out. My free range hens must have snuck into the garden when I wasn't looking. I'll have to be on the look out now. This is our first year farming so I've been learning a bunch by the seat of my pants. :)

Aren't they just the best? I am so exited for you. There is nothing like a fresh ripe tomato. Plus the fact that you grew it makes it even better. I finally got some, too. We've had bunches but before we could have any the chickens had to gorge themselves on them. I think they must have gotten tired of them because I have gotten to pick a basket ful the last few days. It is heavenly, too.
