Posted - Jul 31 2009 : 2:09:01 PM I would like to know how the rows in the garden should be planted? Should they run north/south or east/west? Or does it make any diffrence. I have read in one place that it should be e/w. Have any of you found that it makes any diffrence?
Just thinking about next years garden.
Thanks for any ideas.

Posted - Aug 01 2009 : 08:15:26 AM I guess I never followed the rules - mine run east/west, north/south, se/ne, sw/nw and all in between. Everything seems to grow just fine as long as they get a good amount of sun and water.

Posted - Jul 31 2009 : 7:13:22 PM Oldtimes used to say East and West and that way you optimize the sunshine. The sun could shine down the rows. I have mostly planted that way but it really doesn't seem to make a difference. MB

Posted - Jul 31 2009 : 2:18:01 PM My main garden, the rows run N/S, my kitchen garden, the rows run E/W , it wasn't planned that way, its just how it ended up. Both gardens due very well, so I don't know, nor have I heard, that they should run one way or another.
