Well, my peas died. :( they were doing so well, they sprouted out and everything the pods were growing. then they just gave up. honestly, i think it's either cause i didn't thin them out (by the time i got a chance to they were wrapped around each other so tight) or they were getting too much sun (someone in the house decided to move them on me). It was a learning process.
The carrots and watermelon are still going strong though.

Yeah, I thought peas were a cold weather plant. We plant them here in Feb. If not by then it's too late. I have never planted them myself, but a friend does. It's too much work for me, what with staking them and all that. I am not into all that work. Right now my field peas are running all over the place. But I have never seen them staked. SO they will just have to run.

hmmm thanks for the tips. i wasn't sure what was going on. they were doing great then slowly just started to turn yellow from the botton up

The heat got my pea plants. The 11 day heatwave we had didn't help them a bit. Ditto for my broccoli, brussel sprouts, and lettuce :(

I'm thinking they got too hot, Karen. I've never thinned my peas. I plant them from seed about 2 inches apart, double rows with a trellis for climbing in between.
Mine are almost on their way out, but I'm still eaking out a few. You're much warmer than us, and probably more humid. They do need sun, but I bet you could get away with planting as early as the first of March and still have a nice crop.
