Posted - Jun 03 2009 : 7:42:00 PM They look more like flying rocks to me. How those things are aerodynamic, I'll never know.
Anyway, we have a tree of some sort that has oodles of BB's in it. They aren't aggressive and sure do like my flowers.
Just sort of funny looking... ![](icons/icon_smile_approve.gif)

Posted - Jun 08 2009 : 06:43:23 AM I was watching some bumblebees this weekend. Their legs were so bright yellow with pollen - just beautiful creatures.

Posted - Jun 07 2009 : 04:47:25 AM I love bumblebees, too. And I like to pet them. In the morning, when a bumble is sitting still on a leaf, warming and drying off in the sun, I'll gently stroke its back. The bumblebee will reach back with a leg, like 'what's that back there?' So funny!

Posted - Jun 04 2009 : 9:24:35 PM I love bumbles. I used to be afraid of them when I was a kid, but now I find if I just stand still, they'll fly into me and bounce off. I've never known anyone who was stung by one--they're about the most non-aggressive bee you'll ever come across. I even stepped on a nest of them in the ground once and all they did was make an angry buzzing sound. Cindy |

Posted - Jun 04 2009 : 10:10:30 AM It's funny this year I have seen more bumblebees than ever. They are buzzing around everywhere!

Posted - Jun 04 2009 : 10:02:01 AM Just curious, but can a person catch them and send them in the mail?? Is that legal, since it's an animal, I mean. If so, if we could catch some of the boogers, I'd be happy to TRY to catch some and send them. (Oh, how would I do THAT?...) Then again, the change in climate or terrain might still do them in??
I've heard there is a shortage of the buzzers but not here. Also, there is some sort of 'bee' that looks like a cross between a bee and a yellow jacket. Or maybe it's some sort of bee that I've never seen.

Posted - Jun 04 2009 : 06:28:56 AM Oh, I just love fuzzy bumblebees. I am always saving them and the honey bees from our swimming pool. I set them on the wood pile to warm up and dry off. Then they fly away.
Take care, Melissa.

Posted - Jun 03 2009 : 7:58:38 PM I wish! So far this spring I have counted only 9-bumble bees...or is it the same bee showing up in different places?? We have a real problem where we are at. Especially when it comes to natural pollination of our fruit trees. I have even planted a few flowers that are supposed to attract bees. We shall see...![](icons/icon_smile_sad.gif)
