Posted - May 05 2009 : 6:50:15 PM I planted some lavender last year in my herb garden, and it is growing well.
But it never blooms! It seems healthy, but it just never shows any sign of blooming. Why could this be?

Posted - May 11 2009 : 2:54:50 PM It is still raining! We have gotten almost 18 inches since April 25th. Perhaps it will quit soon and I can take some pictures of mine!

Posted - May 11 2009 : 12:44:44 PM Hi, DiAnn! I think it'll depend on where you live whether you should plant in fall or not. I've never had much luck starting lavender from seeds. I've tried a couple of times and had no success. Come to think of it, I haven't had much luck starting much of anything from seed that had to be started indoors. Maybe I'm not the one to be answering you...

Posted - May 11 2009 : 12:19:32 PM Speaking of lavender. I too have not had great luck with it bought plant 2 times and never had any luck and it died out.
Now I have started some seed. Why I decided to do seeds I'm not really sure. The little plants are about 2" high right now. I made paper pots to put them in. Anyone know if I should just keep them in pots through out the summer just to get a stronger plant going and then maybe early fall plant them in the garden. Any ideas? Thanks |

Posted - May 06 2009 : 12:19:12 PM They do like lime. Decent soil works just fine for them.

Posted - May 05 2009 : 7:49:59 PM It could be to much fertilizer. To much makes healthy plants, but no blooms.

Posted - May 05 2009 : 7:11:31 PM I planted 18-lavender shrubs last year and harvested lavender maybe 3X? The Munstead lavender that I planted survived our HORRID winter here in the UP and it is greening up nicely...all three of my Lady Lavender shrubs shriveled up so I pulled them.
I really don't know why you aren't getting any blossoms. My plot was covered with bees last year harvesting the nectar...Could it be the bees?
Sorry I couldn't help....
