In another post I announced that I bought seven apple trees as a start to our orchard. I want to go totally organic and older posts have really been helpful. I'm going to be using Surround for sure.

Anyway, I read that planting chives in an apple orchard will help with apple scab and planting garlic around the trees will deter borers. Garlic lady or anyone else, have you heard about the garlic thing? Any other companion planting advice for apples anyone?

I actually got that website from a previous post. What a great site! The book is $40 so I might wait and get that for my birthday.

alot of organic apple growers plant clover, I think to attract bees and other beneficials.
