Ha... o.k. I don't think there is a cure for this...this thing called "Serious Seed Saving"...of heirlooms...vegetables and flowers.

I condensed my seeds down to fit in...are you ready for this..one of those huge plastic pretzel containers...(that pretzels from Sam's Club comes in)...I mean that baby is packed slam full of all sorts of seeds...and then..I'm not done yet gals...
there is a brown handled shopping bag full of veggies and flower seeds(o.k. o.k...that bag is sort of smallish in size)...and ..are you still with me here??
A square cookie tin(like what the dutch butter cookies come in) packed slam full of flower seeds from friends and farmgirl friends.
Oh my!...and I find myself still looking for even more new to me/unusual varieties of heirlooms and anything heirloom.
Hmmm....I don't think I can be cured at this point.
What do you think..should I seek out therapy?? or is there just no cure?
Ha!
~ Happy Gardening gals!!~

one bonus for this addiction is:
I know without a doubt I have the workings of a seriously awesome garden ready to be transported to a new home.Whoot! Whoot!

LOL..I have admitted the addiction, and admitted that there is simply no hope for a cure. It has attached itself to me..for life!

Seed addiction? What seed addiction? Nope, not me! I'm not admitting to anything of the sort (cuz then I'd have to fix it).

I would love to see pics. Even a small greenhouse would help me out where I live. I don't think I can move fast enough before one side fell but we all need a good laugh sometime. Ah heck, I'll just call on another farmgirl to lend me a hand.

Everyone should have a greenhouse...or two!! I build this one myself (only needed help to get the plastic on). You gals can surely do it if I can. I probably would have made a great comedy show to watch...stand up one frame, brace with a cinder block, then run like crazy to brace the other side before it fell over. LOL
It cost me just under $250 and would have been cheaper if the 2x4's weren't so expensive right now. I'll post pics if you're interested and would happily help if only we lived closer. But I could answer questions if that would help.

Tina, I'm thinking yes. You need therapy. Considering the amount of seed you sent me, and you have all that on hand.... hmmmmm..... yep. Its a definite " HI. My name is Tina, and I have a seed addiction..." lol!

Okay I lied, I had to go and count...I actually have 10 varieties. But I'm sure not keeping up, now am I? I just might have to go shopping!
But I did look at my seeding spread sheet (how lame is that?) I have 189 varieties of bedding plants to start. I'm about half way through. It would help if this weather would cooperate.
Oh and Tina, you are in serious trouble if you get a greenhouse girl. Things grow fabulous in there and you can grow SO MANY different things!!! How do I know? I just built another 20x30 one this spring. It's my fourth.

Tina Michelle Posted - Mar 26 2009 : 2:25:50 PM
oh Diane..you only have 8 varieties of tomato!! what is wrong with you girl? I have you beat..I have about 30 varieties of heirloom tomatoes..actually I think the count is more like 34 or so.
bwuhahaha!
hee hee.
And..I will be selling my car before we move..I told hubby I'm o.k. with selling it..as long as I can have a little from it to...buy myself a greenhouse.:0)yeah!

You mean not everyone has multiple seed holding boxes???
But, but...what am I to do with the great seeds I got from Aunt Jenny last year, or the true English sweet peas that Lynda gave me? Or the seeds I've collected every fall for 21 years that were my DD's brownie project? And I HAVE TO HAVE eight kinds of tomatoes you know...yellow pear (a new addiction courtesy of Aunt Jenny), Italian, early, late, heirloom, etc. etc. And 10+ kinds of lettuce...have to have variety and colour.
And to make things worse, a new Lee Valley store opens here next month. They just have way to many things that you NEED.

Tammy,
I did look at the seed exchange chain letter..ha..but..I have to resist..for now..as I am actually cleaning up/packing up to get my house on the market really, really soon.
I have done a few one on one seed swaps lately and am always up for one of those. But ..if it involves multiple mail outs..I have to pass for now..just too much on my plate lately.
Thanks for the invite though.hugs, Tina

I'll bite - I'm addicted too! And I'm only able to do container gardening. There are not enough containers in the whole city of Vancouver to plant all the seeds I have. Then every night I look at Tina's Etsy shop and drool over all the seeds she has there. I am buying some in the next week - have to have some - can't live without them!

Oh boy! I am still fairly new to gardening but cannot resist buying more seeds. I was just looking at my seeds today trying to plan our garden and thought "What in the world was I thinking?" We don't have that much room :) It is so tempting when there are so many neat and interesting varieties out there :)

My name is Lisa & I am also a Seedaholic. It has been 1 day since my last seeding. I fear that I will fall off the wagon in the next 2 days as I will be ordering some unusual herb seeds with an 80 year old man from church. He is my enabler for the week. I too have several stashes around the house that only I know about. Please don't call Dr Phil on me. Not yet anyway. Although I have admitted my problem, I am not yet ready to give it up.

My name is Tammy and I'm a seed addict! lol!! I totally understand what your talking about! I hoard seeds and my basement is overrunning with seedlings right now. I have a big container packed full of them right now. I read seed catalogs like a book and dream about my seeds being healthy and when I'll be able to transplant them. At least we're addicted to something that's good for us!!
