Has anyone tried using corn gluten on their lawns to control the dandelions? I want to try it this year but am having trouble finding it locally and before I mail order it I would like to see if anyone has had success with this method. Thanks!

What zone are you in? I wonder if that fescue/bluegrass mix would work here in Wisc ... zone 4. They sell bluegrass here, but that doesn't mean anything ... they'll sell anything whether it grows or not! "Buyer beware" right? Are your plots you maintain organic? I know healthy grass is important, but my daughter just bought a house and the dandelions have a strong hold on the property already. We were going to do a corn gluten to suppress the dandelions, and grass seed to hopefully take over after that! Thanks for your help!

I don't know about corn gluten, but our Master Gardener group helps to maintain a group of lawn trial plots, you can't believe the difference the type of grass growing makes in the appearance of the lawn.
For our part of Ohio, the recommended mix is tall fascue and bluegrass. Perennial ryegrass can be used but will turn brown when it is dry.
