Posted - Mar 10 2009 : 8:10:24 PM I always wear gardening gloves. I just can't stand dirt under my fingernails. I get those stretchy ones with the latex coating. They will last a whole season. However, I do love dirt!! Especially in the Spring when you first turn it over and it has that wonderful smell. I'm am just dying to plant something and can't wait until it's warm enough.

Posted - Mar 10 2009 : 12:47:05 PM Boy do I get the "Lizzard" feet too Terri! Only, I'm on my OWN there-- hubby won't go NEAR them! Also, I rarely wear actual shoes, (mostly thongs and sandles-- even in the dead of WINTER!), so it's a perpetual problem for me.
I've pretty much given up on gardening gloves. It seems I buy a new pair every year, wear them ONCE, then they disappear. (they probably run away SCREAMING!). My fingernails always have something under them whether it be dirt from the flower beds, dirt from the garden, or dirt from scratching behind the ears of a critter or two! It was kind of embarrassing when I was working. I mean, would YOU want a Medical Assistant with stained fingernails touching you? ![](icons/icon_smile_shock.gif) ![](icons/icon_smile_angry.gif) EWWW!!!!! (LOL!)

Posted - Mar 10 2009 : 09:25:38 AM I do agree with dirt on my toes also, myheels crack so bad, my DH has to "file" them every night, no amount of lotion works, so I AM looking forward to that too....![](icons/icon_smile_wink.gif)

Posted - Mar 10 2009 : 09:19:50 AM I try to wear gardening gloves, but somehow they manage to disappear while I'm working in the yard. The dirt gets under my nails around April and no matter how hard I scrub, my nails don't get clean until Thanksgiving.
