Posted - Mar 05 2009 : 9:16:38 PM Well of the 101 lavender plants that I have (had) I went out to assess the damage from this past Winter's Snow....so far I have 35 dead plants. Some are broken in half, some have been trampled by the deer, some have been eaten down by I don't know what and some just flat out didn't make it....uugghh! now I have to either propergate or just buy some new mature plants (to keep the size consistant) to fill in for the dead ones. And we still have more snow on the way...uugghhhhh! Well, 3 steps forward & 2 steps back... lol!

Posted - Mar 05 2009 : 10:15:46 PM So sorry Grace....I have been fretting all winter long about my "15" lavender plants. I can't imagine losing 35!
I have been corresponding with a woman who owns a rather large lavender farm across the bay from us in the Kewenaw Peninsula. She has been giving me advice on occasion and we are hoping for the best for the local growers here. Winter has been unpredictable to say the least, but my plants have been kept under cover of snow and close to my garage so I am hoping they did okay....we shall see if spring ever decides to come to Michigan!
My thoughts are with you!
