Gosh, that was early! I have already dogeared plenty of pages for ordering in January--got to get some good staples on hand for when the little one arrives. That's what I love about the garden in the summer--less trips to the grocer!

remember farmgirls, a lot of seed will store for several years and it's always nice to have some, just "in case".

Me, too, Karin--
I did rule out some things that didn't go well for me last year (like pole beans...don't know if I just don't dig em or what, but I'll go back to bush). It's good to try things, though, and I will try some other things this year that I've been itching to do. We're covered on garlic and the like.

Mine came last week and I have a list as long as my arm already. Which isn't very practical as I don't ahve a huge garden. They just have such wonderful things, I get a bit carried away!

If any of you farmgirls are interested in heirloom seeds, come join us over at the Danger of Extinction thread (Keeping in Touch), we belong to MJ's Heirloom Mavens chapter and we'd love to see you there.
Seed Savers and Baker's Creek are two of the really good catalogs. They are NOT a Monsanto owned or supplied company.

It's a good one--I also like Bakers Creek. I order from them as well!

Where do you get the Seed Savers catalog? I have gotten my Nichols catalog and also Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds and it is lovely!

Yea for SSE catalog. Got mine two days ago, looks like I've had it a month, lol
I'm waiting for the holidays to be over before I get down to serious decisions on what seed to get!

Me too! I was drooling over it and circling a bunch of wishes in the SSE catalog yesterday. Got a Nichols catalog a week or two ago, and have circled up a bunch of stuff in there, too. I'll cull out and figure out what I truly want/need in a month or so.

>> << Oh!! I love when the seed catalogs come in the mail!! Since we moved down here, some of the catalogs have been sent to our new address, but a couple of others need to be changed,so they get here.

My problem is I want to buy the most expensive seeds there are; but I know from experience it may not be the best seed for our particular location. But aren't those photos just wonderful??!!

Lauri -- who's going to go and look at some tomato seeds that seem to good to be real!!

Can't wait...as the catalogs come it, I just put them into a basket to read after New Years. But it's really tempting to take a peek now!

That is early. I've been looking for my Gurney's but usually it's more towards January, if not in January when I get it. This past weekend my hubby and I stepped out our garden for next year. Going to add a couple more rows across, but not go as far deep as it was before. Also we are going to move our herb pots next to the garden. We've been talking about doing a raised garden, but we don't know too much about it yet. We'll have to research it. It's nice thinking about the garden when it's so cold outside. We also are moving our firepit away from the orchard. This past summer and fall the wood hornets and bees like to have drove me crazy when we were out there.
