I just got FREE seeds from wintersown.org

What a treat! Look at my blog to see what I got.

Does anyone else know of other places to get free seeds?

Any one what to swap seeds?

Blessings,

I got my tomato seeds from wintersown.org a few days ago - not only did they send my top 6 choices, but they also sent 3 of my alternate picks AND a packet of lettuce seeds! wow!

Kelley - Farmmommy - I checked my profile and see the problem...the email is no longer houston.rr.com, but is now comcast.net. I didn't see how I could change it there, so I will figure it out and correct that. Thanks for trying to email me and please try again at moc5@comcast.net - thanks!

I looked on the site you posted Kriten (I even took the little quizes. THAT was FUN!) I have the list of seeds I want written down, the envelopes... now I just need to get my hands on some STAMPS!!!! (we usually just put the envelopes and the appropriate amount of $$$ in our mailbox and the ladies at our little tiny post office do the rest!! We're SO SPOILED!!)

I have been growing heirloom vegetables for a number of years-- I won't grow ANYTHING else! There is no comparison in flavor to those old garden gems! Happy sowing ladies! ~~~ Tracy

Yes - thank you - ordering tomorrow - I've had a vegetable garden every year for about 20 years - usually buy some plants, some seeds - these will be my first tomato seeds - we love them and use them so much, we'll look forward to MORE tomatoes!

Another thanks here! I will send my SASE off tomorrow. In the meantime I will pour over the seed catalogs to plan for my first "real" outside garden this spring (I now have a yard to plant in, yay).

I just got my seeds today!! They said to tell them 4 that you really wanted and 4 more in case those weren't available. I got all 8! Plus some Golden acorn squash, too. That was fast. It was less than 2 weeks.

Thanks for the info. This will get me started.

I don't have seeds to swap yet, but would be willing to buy some from someone to get me started. I'll try the site, too.

Thanks, Kris

That is an interesting site. I'm going to send off for the free seeds, too. I'm also going to give this winter sowing thing a shot. Of course, I'll have some started inside, too, for back up.

Kristine, Thanks so much for letting us know about that site. I'm trying to use more heirloom types of seeds in my garden.
Unfortunately I don't know of anywhere else to get free seeds. I would be interested if you found anymore places though.

I have Hubbard Squash seeds I would love to swap. I've been growing them for 2 years now starting with a squash my friend gave me from her garden. I saved the seeds and used them last year. Late in the winter I had one that started to mold so my husband threw it out in the garden on the snow. The goats came and trampled it and ate it. This spring I had Hubbard Squash volunteering all over the place. Again, I've saved the seed. We had some of this squash for Thanksgiving supper and it was a big hit.

If you or anyone else is interested in swapping seeds, I'm game, email me.

LOL glad you got some great seeds!
what are you looking to swap?
right off hand I don't know where else to get good heirloom seed for free..but etsy and ebay both offer heirloom seed varieties for flowers/herbs and veggies.
So in case you are looking for something unique you can check those options out too.
I have a lot of seeds saved right now so I am always up for a swap.
