I would love to put up some gorgeous pictures of my pumpkins...beautiful fall corn....and our new fence. But low and behold..we got a foot of snow! YES SNOW...so many broken trees, mud, and my garden is finished for this year. Still had tomatoes on the vine..but they have unfortunately turned to mush from the sudden freeze. Suppose its time to put the pots on my patio away...and bring out winter decor!

Hope you all enjoy the warmer weather...think of me! LOL

What an amazing life!

You are hilarious Alee....You sound just like the rest of us that are mad about gardening, everything always "just takes a few more days'....LOL!!!!!

I had to go pull up all my plants because of said snow. They are now all added to the compost heap. Darn! My first zucchini of the season was starting to grow, and I had about 10 cucumbers that needed only about another 5 days on the vine. Oh well, I guess that is what we have to content with when we garden! LOL

We are just fine here, we live just north of Camp Pendleton where the closest fire is. Because of the wind direction, we get a lot of the smoke, so we need to keep the windows closed! I didn't see any smoke yesterday, and can't smell anything, so they must have put it out. Our firefighters are so brave, the terrain is very dangerous, and with these stong winds, it's amazing they can manage the fires.

I have a great cream of cauliflower soup recipe if you'd like it! There's nothing better than hot creamy soup when it's cold out!

Wow, we haven't even had a frost here yet in the Chicagoland area! They are calling for 37 on Friday night though, so it might happen soon. I will cover my tomatoes & see if that saves them.

Yep us too.... So cold this morning I actually started a fire in the fireplace. While I love that part of it, it is hard to say goodbye to the patio furniture and cute stuff around the yard... Which is what I did today... Oh but hey, SOUP... I love soup and love to make it. so that is a bright spot, right?

UUGGHH! is it almost Winter already???
We haven't had snow yet, but have had a few freeze nites with more to come. My garden is done, I pulled the last of the corn out Monday...tossed the squash, melons & zucchini's outside the garden fence for the deer which they did eat.

Lisa, hope you are all ok, down there in SO CAL...(I'm a former Ventura Co. gal) and very much familiar w/the Santa Anas & fires.

Say a chilly prayer for Southern California. The wind gusts were 60mph and fires are popping up from LA to San Diego. It smells like death outside the smoke is so thick. Snow would be a blessing.
Stay safe & warm!

Watch out Kate! The storm is headed your way, but I think the weather guy said it should be rain for Michigan instead of Snow.

we got snow here in Boise Idaho on Friday Oct 10. Apparantly also setting a record for earliest snow fall this year. 1.5 inches.
