I harvested my one and only patty pan a while ago. My zucchini came and went so fast thanks to the squash bugs. Been watching this lonely patty. Decided to pick it before some varmit got to it. Going to grill is along with some deer steaks for dinner tonight. Yum-O

There are several types of patty pan. I prefer the white ones. They can get as big as a dinner plate but better if they are saucer size. They are shaped like a saucer, scalloped around the edge and about an inch thick. Like any squash the bigger they are the bigger the seeds. I let a bunch of them get away from me one time and rather than pitch them, I sliced them horizonal, cut out the middle (seeds) with a biscuit cutter. Then froze them, then bagged them. To prepare them, I dipped them in batter and fried them. They looked like giant donuts. I love the flavor no matter how they are prepared. They squeek on your teeth when you eat them.

It looks like a small pretty flower shaped squash..I have only seen yellow but I guess there is green also.

Ah Ok I have never heard of that before. What is it in comparison to? What does it look like?

I love squash, but have never had the patty pan variety. How does it taste & what other ways can you make it?

Oh I LOVE patty pans!! I had ONE tomatoe this year...and it was pretty sad looking when I picked it. I cut off the bad stuff and salted the rest and enjoyed!!! Patty pans are so cute and sweet and yummy!!! I hope you enjoy.
