I planted my carrots in may and they are already going to seed. Why is this? I just pulled up the whole bed since so many are going to seed, and half of them are just pale white or light peach in color with off shooting roots and the others are beautiful bright orange carrots. Whats going on here??

I've never grown a yellow carrot. I'm wondering if the seed might have been bad, too.

I know that my carrots would branch if they hit a rock or if another seedling was too close. I am not sure why they didn't pigment unless perhaps some of the seed was bad?

Alright found the name. Amarillo. They are a yellow carrot. They werent close together at all since 80% didnt even germinate. I would compare their toughness to a tree root. I couldnt break them easily at all! They werent in any shade whatsoever. (The orange that were ok were autumn king)

The seed was only 2yrs old but I was told it would store well for 3yrs. Maybe this was the problem?
I just pulled the other bed tonight and they are beautiful! Fantastic really. Both beds were planted the same day, same soil ph, same water and light, and both were bought at the exact same time from the same company.

Were they really close together? Were the pale ones in the shade more than others? Were they all in the same bed?

Wow, never had that happen before. What variety did you plant?
