My cucumbers have sprouted, I have one remaining cauliflower plant. My bell pepper plants have teeny tiny bell peppers and my sweet banana peppers have small peppers as well. My wilting acorn squash is finally coming into it's own with TONS of flowers coming on. My egg plant looks like it will flower tomorrow or at least very soon. My smallest eggplant which was barely more than a seedling when I got it is finally adapting to where it is planted and growing quickly. It also looks like we will have some strawberries this time next week!

So..you were in an apartment and now you have your own farm? WOW....great Alee!!! You go girlfriend! Oh and it will be so good for Nora. There is nothing better than growing up in the country! I'm so happy for you! Keep us informed! My husband didn't want to live in the country but I was making more money and he had no job so we did when my oldest was a junior in highschool and the others were younger....the oldest never did like it but the younger ones which are older now recall those years as their favorite growing up. They all love to garden, love the outdoors and nature...I'm SO glad I persisted! You'll have a great life in the country! Keep us informed as to how it goes and what you're up to! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Sandra- Well... I was determined to have a crop this year and I need to start having lots of garden produce coming in. My husband is starting to have second thoughts about having a small mostly self-sustaining farm. His grandfather failed at doing that and I am trying to convince him that we aren't his grand parents. So I need my garden to start producing in a big way! I hope as soon as he starts tasting all the wonderful things from the garden, he will realize how wrong he is to worry about my future plans :D

Alee! That is a wonderful idea! I will go to a nursery nearby and find out if they have any. Thanks a bunch!

Holy COw, Alee...you are a whiz! How did you just move and also get a garden in? You are "wonder woman"! I'm getting tomatoes but didn't plant anything else except strawberries which I got very few and perennials to fill flower gardens. The flowers are doing great but I was out all day weeding in 90 degrees and then powerwashed my riding mower so the guy could come and get it and give it a tuneup and sharpen the blades. I still have to go water some things and then I am coming in for the day/night? Now, the house is a mess but I have supper made and a nice bath ahead of me...ahhhh. And I have a baby afghan to finish and my sisterhood badge to work on too. Summer is so busy it seems I can't get anything finished. How do you gals do it?

That's too bad that your peppers didn't survive! Can you go get some more from a nursery? I bet if you got some 6 inch plants they would still have time to produce!

Alee I am very happy for you and your thriving garden! You will have a lot of very tasty homegrown food when it is harvested. Unfortunately my bell peppers did not survive Oh and by the way, I love zucchini!

Yup! We are settling in. Got the house cleaned up so Sherri (Mikesgirl) could come visit yesterday on her trip. That was lots of fun! Now I just need to straighten up my sewing room area. I need a bookshelf or three but that will come soon enough!

The garden is doing great this morning. I got lots of weeding done and if felt great! I am just waiting to make sure that Nora really is down for her nap before I go out and do more.

Today I am planting my zucchini! I can hardly wait for the first fruits of my garden. Strawberries at Alee's house next week!!

AH:( Weeds take time to rid.. but I have no doubt that you'll get there. Your garden sounds so great! There is something about Curtains and a garden that says home..... Are you settling in? How is Nora doing with all the changes?

Hi Rene-

The yard is still weed-ridden. I don't want to use a pesticide so what I need to do is buy some more grass seed for the back yard. I am going to spend some time pulling the weeds. I try to a bit every day but some days I forget :(
