Posted - Jul 20 2008 : 09:15:19 AM Have you tried this? What works? I'm starting to think I just need to try some different methods and at least see if I can get it to sprout. I'd love to grow some at home, as it is closer than the store, cheaper, and I just love to cook it up.

Posted - Jul 20 2008 : 3:38:58 PM When I was up north a few weeks ago I looked for some to buy at a Fresh Market store but they were all out of it. I wanted to try it. Have you cooked it, eaten it? What do you do with it? I read about it somewhere but now I can't remember where or what they said...just very healthy for you I think.

Posted - Jul 20 2008 : 2:17:42 PM I watched a pbs special about growing quinoa and it seems like such a labor intensive process! The farmers highlighted were in Peru. It's my understanding that it does better at high altitudes where the nights are cool. We've had some pretty warm nights here in MI this summer so I don't know if it would sprout properly. Looks like you can grow it at home! Looks like you can order from them too...(who knew?) http://www.seedsofchange.com/garden_center/product_details.asp?item_no=S17548 I've bookmarked the site for myself. Maybe I'll give it a go next summer? So far we've just had it instead of rice or pasta. What do you do when you cook it?
