yesterday morning!!!  Very, very exciting (for me), indeed. They were sooo neat to watch, actually "chomping" the parsley...seems that they prefer flat leaf over curley, and also really enjoy fennell. Who knew? Last year we only had one, that I saw, but this year several. Yippee!!!

Actually, I must confess to loving that kind of pest as well. If whatever is eating my parsley is going to turn into a big pretty butterfly, I'm good with it1

Hey Linda! It has been a good year for them. I didn't see them on my dill, but what with all the parsley, they probably are full!!!
Yes, the package arrived yesterday, and I so very much appreciate it!!! They're sooo pretty, and they smell divine. Can't wait to try them out..I'm making myself finish this GIANT bar of Lavender soap that a friend gave me for Christmas so it will be at least another two weeks (I think...darn thing's been going forever!).
You are sooo very kind, and I can't wait to get together soon.

I have them on my dill every year and they also like a plant called Rue. This is a good year for them. With all the rain we have had here there has been lots of flowers. I love butterflies. They are perfect and beautiful.
Hey did that package every arrive? It should have been there by now. Hmmm.

yes fennel and parsley are the host plants for that type of butterfly..how exciting for you.

It sure was, Karin...they seem to like the morning, so you might want to look then if you have any parsley (or fennel )....
I'm also glad that they are a lot nicer than the creepy potato beetles I found a few weeks back :)

What a wonderful thing to find in your garden. I've been so busy trying to keep ahead of the stiinking little black flies and watering, I haven't checked for any little visitors...

Not bugs that turn into beatiful butterflies :) And, actually, I know we're on the right track with them in the garden, it means we've created a nice little ecosystem for them and the praying mantis...which, incidentally, is my other fave :)

I know, right? I wondered what was happening to my parsley...no biggee. I'm just happy that (if the birdees don't get em') in a couple of weeks we'll have some lovely Zebra Swallowtail butterflies ;)
