it must be some sort of insect. I hate to buy commercial sprays. Does anyone have a green alternative? Like maybe steeped garlic water or something? HELP!!

I bet you will see the bugs and their larve if you go out at night with a flash light. This is when they do their damage and when you can find them. The large beetles you can remove with your hands or the larve you can wash off (the larve cannot climb back onto the rose bush) Or you can use a mixture of water and dishwashing detergent but don't use it during the day in the sun or you could cause damage to your rose bush.
Good luck!

I cant or havent see bugs but I have seen sort of webing on the some of the leaves. Ive never seen this before so it must be a southern thing or Ive just been lucky with my roses before....? Thanks for the tips, I will try them all!

That garlic water thing works on Japanese beetles. We've used it for the past two years and it really repels them. Do you see the beetles? They're kind of green.

Do you see any little tiny bugs (I mean tiny) or is it japanese beetles perhaps? I use a mixture of dishwashing liquid, vege oil and water in a spray bottle for aphids, but it seems to work for just about everything. 1 to 1 to 1 is the ratio....
