I was wandering around a Smith and Hawkins store today, and they had olive plants for sale there. I love olive trees. They obviously don't grow in my neck of the woods, but I have loved seeing them in California, Florida, Italy, Israel, and Hawaii. I love the color of their leaves. Well, these plants were indoor small olive plants and they were not doing so well in the store. I don't have a place in my house that gets Southern exposure. Not one windowsill that is bright enough to grow herbs (see another post for this) or any plant that requires bright light. The salesperson told me that someone had overwatered them and that was why they looked so sad. She didn't know if they would survive in indirect sunlight. Does anyone know about these plants?

Olive trees can be kept indoors for the winter, but they need 6 hours of direct sun a day, near a southern window, e.g. They need to be away from vents and radiators and should not be directly in a window, where the window can magnify the sun and damage leaves. I know I don't have these conditions inside!
