Posted - Apr 16 2008 : 11:52:54 AM We own a rental property and DH went over to cut the grass (we are between tenants right now) and he brought me back a handful that he had picked for me. He said they were growing all over the yard at the rental. I love them. Such a beautiful, cheerful welcome to Spring.

Posted - Apr 15 2008 : 3:01:20 PM Grape hyacinth! Aren't they sweet. There used to be some in the garden out front here, but they have disappeared over the years. That color is so intense, what a treat...karin

Posted - Apr 15 2008 : 07:44:30 AM Grape Hyacinths do so well here -- I have a whole walkway lined by them right now -- they come up early and seem to last well into May. They're almost impossible to kill. And Frannie, I also love that apron! |

Posted - Apr 14 2008 : 8:14:00 PM they are bulbs, so just plant/transplant just like regular Hyacinth bulbs. I had them in my Rose bed twixt & tween my Roses & Spanish Heather....(but that was back in Calif.) They are great little plants and make a great "filler". Enjoy them. hugz

Posted - Apr 14 2008 : 7:32:11 PM our lawn is sprinkled with these too .. mostly in one spot .. that i've asked honey hunk to NOT mow over! they are so dear and gentle looking .. such a beautiful shade!
i laid one of my 'aprons for adoption' amidst them ..
does anyone know how to plant these elsewhere? can they be 'dug up' and transplanted?

Posted - Apr 14 2008 : 6:21:31 PM Heather, they actually smell a little "fruity" like candy...aside from their perfect little bell shapes, they have such a lovely smell! In fact, you've made me remember that this time last year, I had my first pink tea roses and the grape hyacinth at the same time. Afraid it's a different story this year!

Posted - Apr 14 2008 : 5:55:31 PM OH How Exciting!! They come back every year? They do look tiny in this pic, When I went out back to take a pic of my new Cloths line and turned around I was shocked to see them all against the wall, might be why they looked bigger to me, need to go out tomorrow and stare somemore
