It was a beautiful day here, and since my garden is very sandy, it was warm and dry enough to plant a few things.
I planted:
First Edition and Walla Walla onions
Tall Telephone and Mr. Big peas
Cylindra beets
Buttercrunch lettuce
Bright Lights swiss chard
Reggae radishes
Space spinach
Who else got to play in the dirt today?? |

Hey Jennifer,
whaaa!!!! I miss gardening back in Moorpark!!!! please plant a few seeds on my behalf.
I started a bunch of seeds and they are all doing well, to well in fact, and now I have to figure out a back up plan 'cuz we seem to still be getting snow(we are expecting 4-6 more inches!) aacckk!

Haven't met you yet, greetings & welcome to MJF.
I have 2 friends that live up in Sequime...in fact Sara just moved up there in May.....Toby moved up there about 5 years ago & would always torment me with news letters about the lavender fests in Sequime....
I am hoping to be able to plant lavender here out on the west plains. Wish me luck!

my hoop houses (green houses) are from a kit purchase from Oregon Bag Co. They are a commercial grade green house. Hoop houses are wonderful for extending the gardening season and a delight to work in! I would be happy to answer any of your questions.

My garden still has quite a bit of snow drifted in it, plus it has been snowing all day. Other than my seedlings I have started in the house, it's going to be awhile before I can plant anything. :(

Pennie,
Is your hoop house homemade or purchased? What type?
My raised beds are 4' x 8' and I was thinking of figuring out a hoop situation for one or two so I can grow well into winter. Any advise you can pass on?

It was a gorgeous day, here, too. After my long hours at work I came home to get some cabbage plants, and my onions in the ground. I planted both vidalia and a general use white. I also cleaned out the garden beds in front because the Alliums are poking out :) We are building 2 more beds this weekend, so I will have things in the ground by mid next week (cross fingers)

We have 2" of snow that won't last long. I was planting in one of our 30x100' hoop houses yesterday. Walla Walla sweet onions and salad green mix. Also, harvested 14lbs. of mixed greens and delivered them to a local restaurant. Ahh... wonderful Spring!

I am so jealous. Not much snow left..but still too cold and iffy to plant yet..not until Mothers day here. I did plant some snapdragons and other seeds inside in peat pots and flats though. I can hardly wait to plant OUTSIDE!!

I try to do a little bit each day after work, but not today - I got a facial . Yesterday I planted lemon and straight eight cucumbers and filled in beans, peas, spinach and beets that didn't germinate ( I was using old seeds). I also bought more drip hose and couldn't resist buying some red bell pepper plants. I needed some instant gratification.
My little peat pots of melons, squash, sunflowers, and watermelons are doing great and may be ready to plant out over the weekend. We're suppose to get light showers on Sunday and Tuesday, so everything will get watered in real nice.
Tomorrow or Friday I will try to plant more lettuce and over the weekend I may plant more peat pots and figure out what I want to do about pumpkins and gourds. |

Whoa Mama! 2 feet? Ouch. Most everything here is flooded and we are supposed to get more rain tonight, but since it is so sandy in our little area I could easily plant today. I think Wyoming is beautiful, but don't think I could take all that snow! |
