has anyone tried this? I bought the book at a thrift store and it looks like it makes a lot of sense - plus no heavy digging or tilling. Just wondered if anyone has any experience with it.

I do my own breed of this with what ever I happen to have at the time. I always use cardboard and compost. It is awesome!

Sherri,
I kind of do that with all my beds. I lay out newspaper, put in horse and/or goat manure, leaves, compost & grass clippings in the fall & winter, then let them sit all winter & in the spring you have some great fertile soil. I have only had to buy top soil a few times, when I put in some really large beds that were not planned in the fall & I made in the spring.

A group that I belong too supported a community urban garden last summer and used the lasagna gardening method. It worked great. The kids that we were teaching had never gardened before and were excited to be recycling newspaper at the same time.
