Does anyone else look at this site? It is basically a place to read about other peoples' experiences with various seed companies. I had forgotten about it, but went there a few minutes ago, and am a little hesitant to place my orders now. I understand that people are much more likely to take the time to post about their bad experiences, but man, the place where I thought I would get the majority of my seeds from has a terrible rating. I mean, really baaad.

Kind of makes you wonder how some of these companies are still in business with such poor customer service.

On a happier note, a company that I really like, Territorial Seed, had a superb rating. I thought I would try a couple new companies this year that had some slightly lower prices, but I may just stick with Territorial and feel more secure.

Aha! Thanks, I just read some of the negatives on Bakers Creek and they were mostly what I expected....someone who knew him from a young age, mad that he charged admission to their music fest, yada yada yada....I will still order some things from them, but I did just complete my order to Seed Savers for my potatoes and my prairie plants!!!! Yay!!!!

I also REALLY like that Seed Savers doesn't charge you card until they ship your item. VERY nice touch for customers...

I am ordering this week from them--dh wants fingerlings in the WORST way!!!

I have ordered my garlic from them and I really like the way they do business!

Bakers Creek is great for selection--I only had one problem last year with sweet pea (flowers) seeds...some just didn't germinate, but it was a FREAKY year for gardening!

Jonni, I think that in order to actually read the posters' comments you need to click on the company name next to it. Or, you can scroll down and they have an option to look up companies alphabetically. Which can also help you find other companies you may not be familiar with.

Baker's Creek does sound like a great place to shop, I have a few things on my list from there. I had a huge list from Vermont Bean and Seed, but it sounds like they have been bought out by a larger company and have suffered greatly from that. I have decided to try to buy from three or four companies and evaluate for myself. Just not rely on one place in case they aren't as legit as they should be.

Do you get your potatoes from Seedsavers? I am in awe of all their spuds!

I just checked it out, Toni...the only thing I would wonder is what the negative ratings are for--what each person's take on it was...sometimes, folks are just plain unhappy and you can't MAKE them happy. I didn't see where you could read their comment, they just left a general "negative"....maybe you can help me a little further?

My two choices, Bakers Creek Heirloom and Seedsavers seem to be just fine....

I never have, Toni. I really gone out of my comfort zone too very much when it comes to seed catalogs, but maybe I'll check it out to see if my faves are on there....

Thanks for the info :)
