Posted - Sep 24 2007 : 2:29:57 PMWe threw some seeds and rinds out on the garden bed next to the courthouse last year. We never thought the seeds would grow. Well we had a volunteer watermelon sprout up. After several frosts now, our bailiff decided enough was enough and picked the baby melon.
We cut it open and it was white to cream in color on the inside and it tasted kind of like a sweet cucumber. It was surprisingly good.
Is this how unripe watermelons taste? Or did something weird happen to this one?
