Posted - Aug 10 2007 : 12:30:39 PM i received a peace lily and have had it for about two weeks. everything was going well, but the flowers just turned black on it. the leaves are looking great still. i repotted it yesterday. it still looks good, i just don't know about the flowers. this could be normal, but i have never seen a peace lily where the flowers weren't still white. what should i do?

Posted - Aug 15 2007 : 7:06:49 PM Peace Lilies are quite hardy plants. My sister isn't all that great with house plants, mostly because she forgets to water them sometimes, but she's had one for over 2 years now and it's doing great. In fact, she just repotted it and split it's roots so now she has 2 of them. The flowers come and go and sometimes the leaves die off so you just pull them out or cut them off and more will come back. Enjoy your plant!

Posted - Aug 15 2007 : 10:09:59 AM thanks for your help ladies. my peace i cut back the flowers on my peace lily and it it doing great. i can't even begin to tell you what a black thumb i have so i am extremely excited that the peace lily survived me repotting it and cutting back the flowers! i received the peace lily, a mum, and two other houseplants from my granny's funeral, so i really wanted them to make it. i am so glad that they are all still alive and doing well ( i repotted all of them)

Posted - Aug 10 2007 : 4:09:35 PM The flowers won't last .. I'm surprised they've already left you though.. but the leaves will just keep coming back.. & you'll get new 'flowers' now & then too.. I have three of them now.. one i received for my 25th wedding anniversary from my Mother.. & We just celebrated our 30th in April.. So that Girl's been with me quite awhile.. even put her through a move.. & transplanted her a few time.. We're in Florida.. So i actually have mine outside in the ground.. They even survive our mild frost's here! Must be a pretty hearty plant!
Yours will be fine.. just needs to settle in.. Good luck with it Amy!!

Posted - Aug 10 2007 : 3:37:04 PM I'd remove the flowers that have faded, you can plant it in a larger pot.
