I am having the same problem with moles. My whole backyard looks like tunnel city. We just had new sod put down 2 yrs ago and it is being ruined. I've got some remedies that you may or may not like. Going to try one tomorrow.1. roll up a piece of wrigley gum and stick in the tunnels. It is suppose to stop them up and they die. 2. Put some Ex-Lax tablets(chocolate) in the tunnel and it will give them big time diarreah(sp?) They will leave your area and not want to come back. I have heard of these remedies for years and have seen them written up in articles concerning mole eradication. Tracy from NC

A friend of mine swears by this "windmill" type of contraption called a "mole chaser". It looks like a small windmill, and sits on a metal pole you push in the ground. The idea is that whenever there is a breeze, it spins the windmill, vibrating the metal pole, which irritates the moles so they leave. Since it seems to work for her, I went online and got one-haven't put it up yet though. I'll let you know how it works out.

yes, BUT i think mothballs are poisonous to domestic animals if ingested... now, i don't know any dog or cat of mine that would eat a moth ball, but you may want to consider that.
that's why i never used them to deter snakes...

Well, I must be feeding my outside kitty way too much! I think I'll go have a little talk with him because he is NOT doing his job ; ) I did hear that mothballs dropped in their tunnels will get rid of them too.

we have cats that hunt constantly when they're outside... as much as i hate to see anything suffer or die, the majority of little creatures they leave on the doorstep are moles and from what i'm hearing, i should be grateful.

You probably have grubs. Get rid of the grubs, and you get rid of their foodsource. We have (in the past) had them so badly that I've sprained my ankle 3 times a summer falling in their stupid holes. Now, I have to say, as much as I didn't like it, we were told to use Scott's grub control, and it worked. I know that companies like Worm's Way and other organic lawn care companies have something granule to use for grubs as well....we simply didn't have one of those anywhere near us.

My husband used smoke bombs, those medievil looking traps with sharp prongs (?) and a gazillion other things. My flower beds looked like he was playing army or something. We finally resorted to the Scott's, and I'm not sorry.

I have heard of pouring used kitty litter down their holes. The smell of a predator will deter them from that particular area.
