Posted - May 27 2007 : 12:44:29 AM This is where I can spend hours watching the birds and the acrobatic squirrels trying to get into the feeders. I thought I'd post a pic of spring after the last pics of all the mess from the winter flood!

Posted - Jun 01 2007 : 11:26:08 AM wELL I, AT FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS BUT IT REALLY DOESN'T HAVE THE BEAK--AT LEAST IN REAL LIFE--PICTURE IS AN ODD ANGLE AND WHEN I SEARCHED A FEW BOOKS IT LOOKED JUST LIKE A RED BREASTED NUTHATCH. i'LL EXPLORE SOME MORE. Oh wow I was in caps--sorry. I just looked at both and i think it was the nuthatch--it is smaller than a grosbeak. and whiter lines. MB

Posted - Jun 01 2007 : 11:11:59 AM I love it Marybeth, makes me want to just walk and explore. So pretty, it looks like a park! Your rhodo's are gorgeous.
Question...your bird is a grosbeak, no?? That is the very same bird that was at my feeder this morning (must have flown to your house for lunch..haha) and after searching through my birdbook, that's what I decided it was. What do you think?

Posted - Jun 01 2007 : 10:51:36 AM I thought--what a nice view--in fact I think I left a post saying so. I thought I just see my Birch tree out my computer window--but this morning a sweet little bird landed on the closet branch and it was a Red-breasted Nuthatch and I said to myself 'hey I have to look out that window more often' When I stood up and looked out the window I saw even more. The front area. I guess it is a case of we become so used to our own setting. Hey you can ecen see the screen on the window. MB

Posted - May 27 2007 : 9:01:52 PM Thanks guys, I love puttering around and this is my fav place to sit and lose myself in thought. You are right, it is a face on a tree. The mouth is actually a bird feeder and it looks so funny to see the pine siskins inside it. When my little nephew was 3, he always wanted to go "hiking in the scary forest". One day we took him up the back and he asked, very seriously, which of the trees had faces. It was so cute, so when I saw this feeder I just had to have it. Di |

Posted - May 27 2007 : 07:55:44 AM so beautiful .. i used to have a LARGE view of the forest .. now it is just a 'half-view' .. cuz .. we had a red tin roof put on the new porch off the lower cabin ... the computer is upstairs in the lower cabin. the 'dawg yard' is out there too .. and from time to time .. when they 'frolic' .. i'll catch a glimpse of them .. but mostly 'tree tops .. which makes me feel kinda' like i'm in a 'treehouse'. your view is so lovely!!!
