what herbs are you gurlz growing this summer? do you have some favorites?
i think my most favorite is BASIL .. and i really like cilantro too!

I don't mark mine...never really did.
I really love my rosemary, basil, oregano, and lavender. I use all my herbs, but tend to use those more. Rosemary is my cureall--goes into the bathwater when my muscles are sore, makes a mean pork tenderloin. What more could you ask for  ?

Basil, thyme, chives, oregano, loveage, and my favorite sage. I love the flavor of sage in meat loaf, and meat balls. I did buy a lavender this year, have trouble getting them to grow. Michele |

I have all sorts of herbs planted and growing. I think I love basil and rosemary the best of all. Wouldn't want to be withough Lavender, parsely, chives, thyme or sage either though.

I found some cute little copper garden markers at Target in the dollar section. They look so much prettier than having the little plastic markers around. I think there was 5 in a package for a dollar and they are on the little metal stand.

I love all kinds of herbs. I added two types of thyme this year. I grow lavender(grosso,anna louisa, english), sage,chives,parsley,basil, peppermint,choc. mint, oregano,chamomile,lemon balm,cone flower, comfrey and calendula. My lavender doesn't do the greatest where I'm at because we don't get enough intense sun and heat with all the "woods" around us. I still try though and it does produce each year. My favorite is basil, basil and more basil. Love it!!! Can't wait for home grown basil and pasta. Yum!!

my altime favorite is genovese basil. I adore it for so many reasons. I have had a small pot of it growing in my kitchen since about the end of Semtember last year and I have some out in the garden by my maters. I love it.

My all-time favorite herb is thyme. Tastes great on nearly everything and it's so easy to grow. I currently have a creeping thyme, and just purchased a lemon thyme today. I'd eventually like to collect all the scents/flavors.

We grow grosso & munstead, plus a white lavender that I don't remember the name of.
There are over 20 different herbs growing in our yard, but food doesn't get much better that pesto...and of course, dark chocolate for dessert with a cup of tea. Yum!!!

anne .. i love all kinds of mint .. and don't mind that it rambles and seems to 'take over'! i do try to put it in their very own large spaces! nothing like walking near it .. bending down and running your hand over it!

I always have to have plenty of basil for pesto and cilantro for salsa, but I also use a lot of calendula, comfrey, and echinacea to make herbal products. Also like to use my applemint and pineapple sage too. I grow a big variety of herbs for cooking and medicinals, but have a lot just because they are so nice. And I always enter fresh herbs in our state fair in September. My really favorite herb though is nettles, although most people consider it a weed and a nuisance.

I am growing Flat leaved parsley, basil, thyme, oregano, marjoram, lemon balm, lots of mint, ginger,lavender. Cilantro bolts to fast here so I haven't had much luck. I love it so maybe I'll try again in the fall. If anyone has any tips?

I just got Lavender, Parsley. Russian Sage, English Thyme and Lemon Balm. Growing them indoors.

What type of Lavender do you grow Kristine. I have never had any luck with it here in Zone 6 in Kentucky. A lady who lives farther north of me in Lexington, Ky. told me I needed to get Grosso lavender but I can't find it anywhere.

I agree with you about basil & cilantro being favorites, but what about lavender, peppermint, spearmint, echinecea, calendula, parsley, lemon thyme, lemon balm (especially varigated)...
It's too hard to choose... We use so many.
But thursday I was planting the last corn & my mouth was watering because of "fresh corn with pesto & tomato" :O)
