I only grow leaf lettuce for that reason..but my husband loves head lettuce, so I have grown it in years past. I grow my lettuce in the coolest shadiest corner of my garden and I can keep a small patch of mixed leaf lettuce going most of the summer..cut and come again. I love having the makings for my own salad out back. Especailly with the tomatoes get ripe...which will be awhile!!
