On the news this morning they said that we have a good chance of frost tonight. This is coming almost a full month past the frost free date. My garden is all growing and doing great. I just found in the attic lots of sheets of clear plastic. My question is what needs covered in the garden and can I just drape the plastic over it and take it down in a few spots with some bricks?
I have growing right now lettuce, peas, tomatoes, pumpkins, green beans, garlic, sweet corn, yellow squash, black berries (flowering right now), and raspberries.

Luckily my plants were still in the trays, so back in the garage they went... I've put out tomatoes and lettuce this weekend so far, hoping to plant corn and beans and squash tomorrow.

How did it go? Did everyone's gardens survive the frost? What crazy weather.

your lettuce, peas, beans and garlic should be jsut fine. They are cool weather crops hardy to frost. Cover your tomatos, but make sure you have them caged and that the sheet or plastic doesn't touch the plant...the frost will kill that part if it is touching.
We had a frost last night and everything was left uncovered here sans the three tomato plants that Grace got for her birthday and we came out just fine...We have all the veggies you listed plus some and things were just fine.

We've got a frost warning here too. Doesn't seem fair, does it? The last frost date here is May 15, so we're only a couple of days past. You must get tempering effects from Lake Michigan to moderate your weather there...

You should definitely cover the tomatoes. If you have lots of plastic, then cover everything you can. It's better to be safe then sorry. Especially since everything is doing so well for you. Good luck staying frost free!
