Posted - May 06 2007 : 5:50:53 PM We've been plugging away these last two months getting our little piece of heaven together. Thought I'd share our progress...I'm really proud of us, considering we're total beginners! This is what we started with:
This is two days work (it rained :))
This is today, peas are up and potatoes too!

Posted - May 09 2007 : 09:30:53 AM jonni-your little garden looks wonderful. I love the little woven tee-pees that you made for your peas. All thos little houses in your neighborhood are so adorable. I made a large teepee for pole beans that my 8yr old son can play in. A friend of min had done that in her garden and they're so fun. Looks beautiful!
Blessings,
Missy

Posted - May 09 2007 : 05:46:42 AM Thanks so much, girls. One reason I wanted to post our "progress" is because I received so much encouragement and great input that I wanted to show my version of your ideas!
I've also planted (where it's wet :)) some carrots (short and sweet), some zinnias for color and green beans--which reminds me that I need to put up my fence this evening.
p.s. Thos irises came from an old farm in Winchester, Kentucky. My good friends gran passed and they sold the place, but they took her favorite "flags". Right now, as those are fading, the siberian irises are blooming, so it's been a nice succession of color around here.

Posted - May 08 2007 : 12:34:45 PM Looks beautiful! How wise to take pictures of before and after. I seem to think of that during the harvest! Still in the greenhouse stage here, although the volunteers are showing up :) Sharon

Posted - May 07 2007 : 06:10:13 AM Thanks Elizabeth Anne. I really love these willow teepees and fences I purchased from Plow and Hearth--they're very sturdy and look pretty. I lived in England folks used willow for everything. Those little peas just amaze me how they lasso onto something, with very little coaxing.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this garden...and I LOVE raised beds! I've talked about and talked about it and this year we both said, "enough chat" let's get it done. Even if I only get one pea pod, it will be worth it, I think. Such a joy to be out there!
