Help!!
Ed just brought in a bunch of fresh pears from one of our two pear trees. He said the pear tree is full of pears. They are very hard. Does anyone have any good recipes for fresh pears? Or how can I prepare these to freeze them for recipes later? Or other suggestions on preparation and storage?
I am looking online and there’s one recipe for roasted pears on Good Housekeeping. I think I will try that.
What are your ideas?

| Pear butter is tasty! I will look and see what if any, recipes I have for pears. I love them canned in light syrup too. |

| These pairs are very hard. I can barely get a knife through them. Ed said they’re falling to the ground. We want to get them up before the squirrels get them and then make a mess. What are the easiest ways to soften them or are they really just not ripe yet? |

I would think if they are really hard they are not ripe yet. Do you know what kind they are?

I think you are right - not ripe.
I do not know what variety they are, and using the same picture twice in Google it came up with three different varieties. Lol |

Thank you, Vanessa. Sounds interesting. Wonder what the ripe banana and apple do to speed things up.

| Pretty as they ripen they produce a gas that helps to ripen the other fruit. |

This is from Betty Crocker's Pie and Pastry Cookbook published in 1968. My grandmother gave me this cookbook in 1984.
