I don't want to mess up the badge count so I'm starting a new thread for this discussion.

I'm so excited to announce that I'm half way to my goal! I want to be a sharpshooter one day (earn 200 badges). I enjoy working on the badges and don't want to take away from the fun by putting a time frame on it, so I don't know when I'll get there. Today I updated my planner and caught up on downloading my certificates and badge templates then counted up my progress. I've earned 100 badges so far! My first one was Homespun Christmas in December of 2012. I'm hoping the next 100 don't take me another 13 years but who knows what life will throw at me LOL!

How many badges have you all earned? What are your badge goals?

Great job, Heather!! I believe I have earned 27 badges so far. I joined MJF in 2022, I think. I don’t know how to find info on when I joined….my notebook is packed from my craft room make over.

You joined January 3 2022. If you go to the main forum you will see members in the top right corner. You can click that and hit the letter for your username and then find it in the left column, follow that across to where it says member since. You will see the day you signed up.

I joined 19 years ago but they weren't doing badges back then. I have to get busy and sit down and apply for more that I've finished. I don't have a specific goal and have not been too active in doing them.
It seems to come in waves of when I xan get them done.

Happy half way point! 100 is so inspiring!

I started a little over a year ago (1/13/2025) and have 42 (nod to Douglas Adams/Hitchhiker's Guide).
Fallon's at 18 with a similar timeline.

We will probably slow down a bit too as we knock out some of the shorter, sweeter ones. I see at the bottom that some badges were revised in years after you started. Did that mean you had to pull down new descriptions? Do you think there will be more edits we should be on the lookout for?

Thanks everyone!

Chris - 42 in a year is impressive! It took me a while to get into working on them consistently. In all the time I've been on here there has only been the one big revision of the badges. Usually it's just a couple added every year, but even that has changed lately. There's been a lot of changes within the last few years so I can't really say if we'll need to be on the lookout or not. The main forum used to have a lot more activity, there was an e-mail versions of the magazine (that was completely different from the print version), there were monthly specials of things to buy, etc. Now the magazine is only going to come out 4 times a year and the membership price has gone up considerably. I'm not sure that means for the future of the badges. I use my planner as a start for seeing what I want to work on and then check out the online description. I know that there's a little wiggle room in some of the badges - for example there's one about changing oil and other maintenance stuff on your car, but I did it for the skid loader for the farm since it gets uses a lot more and it was approved.

I have 25 that have been applied for! If I applied for my other ones I would have probably 30! Better kick it into gear this year.

I have not figured out how many I have yet, but I will. It’s not many that’s for sure.

Chris, I think if a badge says it’s been revised then the new description is what you go with. I did the bread badge several years ago and then it was revised after that, maybe something in the expert level. I would just go with the current description.
