So I had a big old brown spider hanging out on the side door of the garage this morning. Unfortunately I didn't see him until I opened the door to go out and so his/her beautiful web was ruined. He headed for the corner. I wanted to get a photo but he was gone when I came back.  |

| Now that fall seems to have finally kicked in, 38 when we got up this morning, I am seeing loads of these critters around. Or at least the evidence. Lots in the house unfortunately. Have to get my broom out and evict them. |

I wanted to let all of you know I have picked my name out of my Witches Hat for the Tarantula Give Away. As I posted earlier it is a surprise to all until she gets her package and post her photo of her Tarantula treasures.

Oh My! I have a healthy respect for them and know they are pretty harmless unless feeling unsafe.
I remember them all lined up on a rock wall in the Caribbean. The locals told us they come out to sun themselves in the heat.
I also house sat for friends whose son had a pet tarantula. They gave me instructions and I was terrified when I went to check on all of the animals and the skin was in the container but not the owner of the skin. I stayed in the middle of the floors, as I walked around trying to find it. They had told me that it would not need food until they returned but to just check on it. I have to say, that I would have been happier to know that it has escaped and starved to death-for selfish reasons pertaining to not getting a surprise bite as I rounded a corner. When they returned, I gave them a low-down on the animal troops and left the last spider to the end of the recap. They failed to tell me that they had moved it into a larger container after it shed its skin and failed to mention that. Whew! They also realized that I was not a "snooper" and did not go through the bedroom looking around, otherwise, I would have found the tarantula in its new dwelling. BUT.....snooping would have removed a lot of stress. |
