Good morning first day of August and to all of our Scattered Prairie Gals! August has come in on cooler temperatures. It was 59 when we got up this morning. As soon as the sun is up I'm going to do some desperately needed weeding.
What do you look forward to most in August? I have noticed that not too many of our ladies have checked in lately. I assume it is due to busy summers.
Be on the lookout for a swap soon!

I've been surprised today with the cooler temps. After I got home this morning I opened the windows wide and it has let in beautiful breeze. |

We've had a much cooler summer than usual so far. Only 2 days over 100. The coolest I can remember here, with the night temps in the 50s. I expect August will be hotter. |

This morning was so refreshing, my dogs wanted to walk a bit farther, but we had to turn home. Next week is the "Old Reliable " Germantown Fair. I'm entering quilts and maybe a pie in the Floral Hall competition. |

We are literally baking down here in the Florida Swamp! It just won't go away and we are all miserable and staying inside or in someplace with AC. The daily weather report does encourage people to stay inside and drink plenty of fluids because of the triple digit index everyday.
I just got back from a week in Virginia visiting some new places and also my old haunts. Warren is on a safari , which I didn't want to go to, so I went north only to find out that the Florida weather hitched a free hike up here too. We had hot and humid weather most every day. Bummer!! |

It rained a little last night so this morning was cooler. That sure felt nice.
Good luck with your quilts and pies, Vanessa. Be sure and let us know what ribbons you get.

Linda, I don't see a post from Vanessa. Is she entering something in the fair?
It was beautiful here yesterday with a nice breeze. I cleaned out the garage and pressure washed the driveway. JT did the mowing and edging, then changed the oil and rotated the tires on the van. Felt so good to get outside without it feeling like walking into an oven. The crickets are out and I can hear the cicadas this morning. We still have some trimming, weeding and painting the deck to finish, but that will be this week's tasks. |

Vanessa is Audra Rose. She said she was entering a quilt and pie in the fair in her post above.

Thanks Linda, I guess I did see that post. It must be the heat getting to me. Lol. The dog days of summer are almost over. Yesterday marked 8 years since my dad passed and 4 years since we've been in our home here in Ohio. Time sure seems to fly. Though I know there are the same amount of hours in each day as there were when I was a kid it sure seems to change as we get older. Back then it seemed summer days went on and on when we were at the lake or camping. |
