Here are some photos of the Ice Hotel.
They pack the snow on top of the ice hotel rooms all winter and even with the warm summer temperatures, the snow lasts until the next season. We watched the small dozers pushing the snow around on the top.
From what we could tell, you book and stay in one of the little wooden cabins and then spend one night in the actual ice hotel. The rooms are in the snow packed building and each room has an entrance like an igloo with just a curtain across the inner doorway. The beds are made of ice with a mattress laying in the ice box. Bathroom facilities are at the very end of the hall. Guests who sleep in the ice rooms have to be out at 8:00 am - we think because of all the excursion tourists who visit the hotel.
Each room had a theme and there were also sculptures along the walkway.
This reindeer was in the bar area.
I'll put some more photos in another post - I'm not sure how many I can include in one post.

It just is fabulous that they can make the Ice Hotel. I am not sure I would want to stay there, so cold!

I felt a little claustrophic walking through the little low doorways - and didn't feel much better when I saw the bulldozers on the roof. I think I'd much prefer the cute little wooden houses on the hill.

Thank you so much for sharing!!! I saw a movie about an ice hotel and looked it up. It was in Canada and they build it on a big parking lot every winter. There were levels of rooms - the cheaper ones were pretty plain, the more expensive ones were fancier. They had a fire place in each room. It's something I'd love to try one day. I think maybe one in Norway would be perfect :)
